Ari’s eyes instantly captivated me in this littles play session – pure and innocent and totally melted his mommy’s heart when she saw these stunning pictures! A laid back session on a very hot Alabama southern summer day gave me the perfect opportunity to photograph these cuties playing in the creek. And let’s just say the photographer might have joined in too!!

This ended up being such a perfect session. Just like all Alabama summers, well honestly just the weather in general is quite unpredictable. There was a chance of rain every single time we tried to schedule this session and finally we caught a break. But looming in the distance just moments after we arrived at our session location… you guessed it, rain. We walked over to a little spot in the creek at Van De Graaff park, Tuscaloosa. Mom and dad stood off to the side and chatted with my husband while I rolled up my pants legs and jumped right in. Ari, Ava, and my daughter all started climbing rocks, walking in the water, and not pictured – my daughter actually just sat down in the water! Ari, hesitant at first, saw her do that and I guess thought, well that doesn’t look so bad – so he finally joined in. And let me say, these are some of my absolute favorites!

Overcast skies, looming rain, and about 15 minutes later, we were headed back to our cars. I walked away absolutely sure we got at least maybe one great photo. Sometimes I just leave a session so sure of myself, but sometimes I wonder if I got all I needed. I rushed to the computer and loaded these in to find some absolute GEMS!

I love play sessions SO MUCH. Why? Mom just hung out and chatted while I chased the littles around, snapping away at some priceless moments. To her it felt like we were only there 5 minutes, and wondering if I got any good pictures. How? We barely did anything? Thoughts that came across in later conversations but after delivering the gallery the results were perfect! Those amazing candids of her little babies playing were gorgeous and absolutely frame worthy! So much can be captured in just a few moments – one reason I’m always overshooting in my sessions, I don’t want to miss anything!
