Did you know we have exactly 120 till Christmas and y’all, I’m so ready. Yep, I’m one of those people. As soon as the calendar says November 1st, my tree goes up. I know some people just hate that (my husband totally rolls his eyes) and they feel like thanksgiving is skipped over. But I’m just IN LOVE with all things Christmas!
Growing up, my birthday usually falls around, or quite often, on Thanksgiving day. I never really wanted to spend my birthday week putting up decorations and ever since I was young, I really enjoyed putting them up early with my mom so we could have everything decorated when we came back from visiting family. Naturally the holidays became one of my favorite times of year. Between football, halloween, thanksgiving, birthdays, and Christmas – it just really was a special season growing up.
Each fall I cannot wait to take our own families Christmas pictures!! I try to make a Christmas card every year. It has been a family tradition for us and a way to document how we’ve changed each season. But as the years go by, I’ve gotten better at planning and executing this busy time!
Here are my 3 tips for being totally on top of things for Christmas & pictures!
1. Book a Mini Session
This is an awesome way to get some quick pictures without booking an all out session! Time during this season can be so full with such a variety of activities. I feel like every weekend there is something going on (especially football season). So selecting a time slot during a mini session day can really help you grab what you need quick so you can head on to the next activity without disrupting your fall schedule!
2. Book EARLY
Make sure to book your mini session ASAP. Waiting until mid November will put you in a time crunch. Mini sessions are typically held in early November so photographers can ensure pictures are delivered to the clients with plenty of time to order those cute Christmas cards!! I always have mine within a week of taking our family session and I’m ordering cards long before Thanksgiving. So booking early in the fall will ensure you have a spot & you don’t get too late in the season!
3. Pick a smart time & bring snacks!
I say this because I personally have experienced booking a time slot when a toddler would normally be napping. Not a good idea!! Don’t make that mistake like I did, make sure you select a time that would fit well with your family’s normal routine. And on top of that tip, bring snacks. I don’t know about you, but my toddler will totally have a way better chance of being cheery when snacks are involved 🙂
This year I am offering Christmas Minis at Murphy’s Tree farm. You can book a Mini Session HEREÂ
