Stepping away from the office a while can really do good for the mind and the soul. This weekend, Trevor and I took a trip to a simple quiet place just outside of Birmingham – Pursell Farms. We’ve lived in Tuscaloosa for quite a while now and had no idea about this place until just this year and man have we been missing out! WOW!
So funny story – Trevor gets into watching these vlogs if you will and in his newest golf kick, he’s been watching these videos by GM Golf on Youtube and well these guys ended up at Pursell Farms for like three weeks during COVID. Also funny is when I mentioned to a staffer how we heard about their property – they sang all the praises for these guys.
Being the slick wife that I am, listening to Trevor watch these videos and talking about how cool that place looks – Of course I booked our anniversary weekend for him 🙂 You’re welcome babe 😉
Second funny story – Trevor had shown me a video of GM golf guys playing with the Pursell brothers where Parker makes an Albatross (ps my husband would be proud I found this video) and on our first day first round, we end up running into Parker and his wife Lauren on the course (Also what an awesome name for a wife 😉
So let me just share our experience with the resort – simply a 10/10 about absolute everything. And according to Trevor, I’m picky. From the furnishings in the rooms (this is big for me), to the serving staff, to the grounds, everything was absolutely amazing. And I don’t say that lightly because I am picky. I’ve been to other “nice hotels” at golf courses and the hotel is lacking, or the staff is just okay. We cancelled our dinner reservations on Friday night because once again I had gotten a migraine – story of my life – and the staff was genuinely wanting to know if they could do anything to help. I called the front desk on several occasions to inquire about various things and if they didn’t answer for whatever reason, they quickly called back to ensure that I would be helped. Every single staff member I encountered were genuinely happy to be there and gracious to us.
My favorite takeaways were
1. The course. Stunning! I don’t play golf, but I did ride along with Trev 2 days in a row, 4 hours a round. And it was the most pleasant scenery!
2. The hotel – Beautiful in every way from the front lobby to the rooms themselves. Nice linens, immaculate decor, updated everything – nothing was old or overlooked. A white glove standard of clean too!
3. The staff – Impeccable service. And I have super high standards coming from a background in fine dinning from some of the top guest experiences. They were perfect!
4. The food – I could have ranked this higher but when I’m looking for a getaway, I do love food – but sometimes my environment comes first before I can enjoy these things. Kinda like Maselow’s hierarchy of needs (that’s the teacher nerd in me coming out).
I should probably list more, but these 4 were so perfect and had me sold. This place is a GEM hidden away just outside of Birmingham – How did we not know!? And this is absolutely a place we will frequent often. Also its my goal to photograph MANY clients here if I possibly can 🙂
Heres just a few pics from our trip – I am far beyond regretting not taking my camera so my cell phone pictures will have to suffice for this post.
