We are officially one week away from Christmas 2020 and to celebrate, I’m sharing an adorable Christmas Mini Session at a local Tuscaloosa Christmas Tree Farm!! The Verhine family is SO precious – especially little Ben & Jay – you might recognize these cuties from a summer shoot back in June 😉

Naturally, Allison had the boys dressed so cute and her own dress complimented the outfits SO well! Mama was looking so cute with her boys! #boymom !

At Christmas Mini sessions I always try to format them in a specific way – starting with the whole family formal shot. I try to get everyone sitting or standing , smiling at the camera, right at the beginning of the session. Every family needs a full family shot, especially for the Christmas cards! Next I start working with just the kids. I do this because kids are very unpredictable naturally – so we might get them to sit for just a moment before they’re up and going – as you can see little Ben starts going for the rocks and running off!!

AND THATS OKAY!! I want to reiterate for anyone booking a mini or any type of session that I LOVE when kids start being “themselves” They do not have to sit still and pose to get gorgeous portrait shots! Actually, when they start moving, I move with them and sometimes those are the BEST pictures!

This is a very important aspect of my mini sessions, especially with little ones, we try to play!! Kids will do so much better walking, looking at things, and being active – plus, we can get some really great walking shots and photograph families more in their “element” rather than staged! I LOVE candid moments – like Jay helping Ben and holding hands *insert the heart eyes*

At the very end of this session, Ben was NOT having it anymore, so mom picked him up and started to cuddle and right there, we got the BEST shots of the two of them. Just being themselves! This turned out to be the cutest little tree farm session! Check it out for yourselves!
