A Tuscaloosa maternity session I cannot stop obsessing over, Rylleigh & Dane were perfect! Rylleigh asked if we could take pictures at her local boarding stable, Willow Way Farms. Um, YES! I love new locations, especially ones that are meaningful to clients! This is her second home – specifically to her two gorgeous horses. Before baby, Rylleigh was training to run barrels but set that aside when the most amazing blessing came along, baby Sawyer Anne!
To celebrate this milestone, Rylleigh wanted to include the whole family! The setting was perfect. Beautiful green pastures, light pouring through the trees, and Rylleigh perfectly posed in her soft pink dress. A soft long flattering dress is always perfect for maternity (even engagement) portraits.
We started with Rylleigh by herself and then included her hubby, Dane. Shortly after we brought the fur babies out! Now, for moms safety, we had several people around (including myself) keeping an eye on the horses and environment around us. As a fellow horse lover, owner, and rider, I know any horse can be both well mannered or dangerous at any moment. Reading the horses demeanor, paying attention to the area around (think distractions / loud sounds) is so important. And knowing how to respond to them when they feel scared or threatened is imperative! I’ve been around them for 20+ years, so naturally I love photographing them and feel so comfortable assisting in handling them if needed!
Finding the best light was essential! Once we found that, I kept Rylleigh in the same general spot for the majority of the session to minimize her having to walk around a lot but also to provide the absolute best lighting and background for her portraits. Just look at how stunning Rylleigh is for her maternity session.
